For its premiere at Tribeca Film Festival in 2022, we partnered with Little Cinema to design and produce a bespoke live production of the Audible Original podcast The Big Lie.
The Big Lie tells the story of FBI special agent Jack Bergin (voiced by Jon Hamm), who sets out to shut down production of Salt of the Earth — the only movie named as part of the so-called Hollywood Blacklist during the 1950’s Red Scare era.
To offer the audience an immediate look at the real-world locations and figures that populate the story, we sourced and restored hundreds of hours archival footage and photographs, pairing selections with a custom motion graphics look to create an immersive live visualisation of the podcast.
The piece was projected on stage at New York City’s Civic Theatre, with live actors working behind the screen to deliver silhouetted performances of the episode’s dialogue and action.
